The Barden Sasser Homestead is the same as the Sasser-Gilbert Cemetery. Barden and Phoebe set up housekeeping at Puncheon Camp shortly after marrying. They ran the general store and post office. A short time later, the Sasser Kentucky Post Office was named in honor of Barden and Phoebe.
After they died, their daughter, Malinda Sasser and her husband Nathan Gilbert took over the post office.
Abraham H. Sasser (born 11-16-1882) delivered mail on horseback when he was a teenager. After Malinda and Nathan grew too old, the post office was moved down the road to the Taylor Sasser store about one mile down the road.
Taylor operated the Sasser Post Office sometime during the years of 1920-1930s.
In the 1940s, the Taylor Sasser farm joined the Barden Sasser farm. Malinda and Nathan took care of Barden until his death in 1895.
