James was my great-great grandfather.

The cemetery contains mostly field stones to mark the graves. There are many people interred here as evidenced by the many sunken areas.
I was told that years ago, a group came into clean up the cemetery. They first removed all the large stones and put them in a pile, effectively erasing the locations of graves. Those old stones were used by our ancestors to mark graves since they had no money for tombstones.
It is said that Henry was buried between two cypress trees. This is the location where Abe Sasser placed the memorial tombstones. The cypress stumps were there when I visited in 2006. I am not sure if they remain today.
I've scoured newspapers and death certificates to see if I can find who is all buried here. I have not had much luck.
May they all rest in peace.

Father of 9.

Rest in peace

.James was the son of Henry Sasser and Nancy Kirby.

James married Martha Hubbard and they had 9 children that I know of.
