A GOOD MAN GONE TO HIS REWARD
Decatur News, August 7, 1893

The Rev. Wm.Q, Sewell died at his home near Trinity, Sunday, July 30, 1893. He had lived to the advanced age of 74 years, and had maintained a good name and a blameless life. He enjoyed in a large degree the confidence of the people, and was universally esteemed as an upright citizen and a Christian gentleman.

For a period of about thirty years we knew him personally, and never heard aught charged against him. In his young man hood and down to old age, he was noted for his simplicity and artlessness. The last two years of his life he was almost a helpless invalid, being a subject of paralysis, but he was resigned to his condition, and like the evening sun gradually approaching its setting, he serenely passed to the close of his earthly life, to be transferred to a brighter and better one "beyond the swelling tide."

Mr. Sewell was a preacher in the M.E. church, south; he was a Royal Arch mason, and professionally he was a school teacher. He honored his calling and was an honor to the order and the profession in which he served. His home life was beautiful, and as husband, father, neighbor and friend he was an exemplar worthy to be followed. One by one the elder men of Trinity neighborhood have dropped out until their ranks have become thin and their number few, so that when Mr. Sewell pressed his feet upon the golden shore he was welcomed by Wiley Bouldin, J.A. Lile, Dr. Murphy, John Peck, Hardy Burt and others who had gone before--all men of blessed memory, and "of whom the world was not worthy."

Suggested edit: W. Q. Sewell's first wife was Sarah Frances Kimball (Kimbell) daughter of Rev. Nathaniel Kimbell and Sarah Peyton
W. Q. and Sarah were married 31 May 1842, Lawrence County, AL and had a number of children.
