Funeral on Sunday
Ashville, April 27 – Fred H. Beers, aged 49, burgess of Ashville and one of the best known residents of this section, died suddenly yesterday afternoon while directing a force of men on a road project, a half-mile east of Loretto. Death was attributed to a heart attack by Coroner Cyrus W. Davis, who conducted an investigation yesterday afternoon. Mt. Beers also had served as a member of the Ashville borough Council and was a well-known justice of the peace prior to his election to the office of burgess. He had been employed as a foreman by the State Highway Department for sometime. Born at Fallen Timber on September 28, 1884. Fred Beers was a son of the late Samuel Beers and Mrs. Sara Beers, and had been a resident of Ashville for the last 12 years. He was also a well-known merchant of this place. The deceased had served as councilman for the last seven years, and was named burgess at the election last November. In addition to his mother, Fred Beers is survived by his widow, Mr. Grace (Hollen) Beers, and three sons, Rex James and Clyde, Beers of Ashville and a sister, Mrs. Clara Frye of Johnstown, also survive Funeral services will be conducted at the home at 2 o'clock Sunday Afternoon, followed by obsequies at the Beaver Valley United Brethren Church at 2:30. Interment will be in the church cemetery in charge of W. A. Gibbons, Ashville mortician.

He was born near Fallentimber, Cambria Co., Sept 28, 1884 and is the son of Samuel H. and Sarah (Troxell) Beers. F.H. Beers has spent his entire life in Cambria County. He was educated in the public schools and remained on the home farm until he was 20 years old, when he entered the mail service at Fallentimber. After several years he engaged in the garage business at that place. In 1922 he came to Ashville, where he has since successfully engaged in the general mercantile business.
On June 5, 1909, Mr Beers was married to Miss Alda Krise, deceased, to them a son Rex, was born.
On March 1, 1916, Mr. Beers, married 2nd Miss Grace Hollen, of Glasgow, PA. the daughter of James R., and Ida (Krise) Hollen of Chest Springs, PA. To this union two sons were born: James F., born Aug 25, 1920 and Clyde Joseph, born Oct. 25, 1924. Politically Mr. Beers is a Republican and he is a member of the Ashville
Council. He is indentified with the United Brethren Church.
