OBIT:
Stella Ohlwiler McGonagill passed away August 10, 1979, in a Phoenix hospital. She was born October 27, 1890, in LaJara, Colorado. She married Earl Charles Ohlwiler in 1906, in Durango, Colorado. To this union eight children were born: Georgia, Albert, Charles, Orval, Bill, Hazel, Don, and Earline. Earl and Stella, with their first two children, came from Colorado to Winslow, Arizona, in a covered wagon, in the year 1912. In 1914 they migrated to Camp Verde, where Charles and Orval were born, Then came to the Cottonwood area in 1918, where the rest of the children were born. Earl passed away in 1953, and three children also preceded her in death: Georgia, Albert, and Orval. Stella married Martin McGonagill in 1954, and he passed away in 1958. Stella is survived by five children, seventeen grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Until she became ill in May, Stella enjoyed life with her children and grandchildren. She loved to go camping in the mountains, and many times slept on the ground with the rest of the kids. All her family can remember her out pitching horse-shoes, and winning.
She was generous almost to a fault. You never could mention anything you needed or wanted, because if she had any money, she'd give it to you and tell you to go buy whatever you wanted.
She made the best yeast rolls anyone ever tasted. The last batch she made was in December. She didn't fool around making a couple of dozen at a time. It was nothing for her to stir up 5 to 10 pounds of flour at a time!
In all her illness, she never complained, and all the nurses and doctors in the hospital often hugged her, and called her their angel patient.
We in her family all have our own special memories of Grandmas Ohlviler, and love her and will not forget her.
