Larkin Wheeler died at 4:15 Thursday morning at the family residence, four miles southwest of Decatur. His death was mainly due to old age. He was seventy-one years old. He had been ill since Sept. 1, 1911.
He was born on a farm a few miles east of Decatur April 19, 1841, and had lived here all his life. He had been a member of Decatur lodge. No. 65, I.O.O.F. for thirty years. For over thirty years he was engineer at the plant of the F. B. Taft Manufacturing company. Four years ago he left that position and moved to the farm southwest of Decatur.
MARRIED NEARLY FIFTY YEARS
On Sept. 11, 1862, he married Miss Caroline Enterline, who with the following children survives him; Mrs. R.T. Bashford, Mrs. Olan Knipple and Mrs. W.W. Clabaugh, all of Decatur; J.E. Wheeler, of El Campo, Tex., and W.E. Wheeler of Tucumeari, N.M. He also leaves one brother, Hiram Wheeler, of near Sangamon.
Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler had been planning to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary next September. Mrs. Wheeler is now seriously ill with pneumonia.
The time of the funeral has not been decided on, but will be under the auspices of Decatur lodge No. 65, I.O.O.F.
