Mary Emma Marshall help take care of George before he passed away from a high fever and pneumonia, from digging a neighbors well in the cold damp weather all by himself. George went into chills and the fever caused him to not know what his surroundings were, and he couldn't get air. He was a big handsome Mountain of a Man. They tried to get him to town, unfortunately George didn't want to go, but his smaller framed Young son in law Aurther and his spouse Emma finally got him to town after George had already fell and broke his arm, from being scared to death from lack of Oxygen. When they got to town the doctor was out delivering a baby,so the Local Sheriff told Emma to leave George in Town and the doctor could see to him in the morning. The high fever and Pnemonia took George's Life around early morning hours while George was sleeping on a jail cell cot. The doctor did not get back till around mid morning from his farm call.

Due to the fact that he was in a jail cell for no reason, seems to lead to a conclusion that due to the doctor being out helping delivery a baby, this seemed to be the best place for Emma to leave George. So that he could be seen by the Doctor, when the Doctor returned back to town. The Courthouse burned in Jasper, which destroyed some very important truthful closure of this matter.
