I saw your connection on Find a Grave which list's Leah Stoner as the daughter of Alfred and Aveline Stoner. I believe you will see the will lists her as a daughter of Jonathan and Ester Ludwick Stoner who are also buried at St Matthews. I am descended from their daughter Eve Ann who married first Alexander Peacock.


Jonathan Stoner's will was probated in Apr 1879. Problems arose and his daughter, Eva Ann, was summoned to court since she was out of state (MS). The will was broken and the estate was divided as the court directed.

Will of Jonathan Stoner ¨C 1873
In the name of God ¨C Amen, I Jonathan Stoner of the County of Rowan and State of
North Carolina, being of sound mind and feeling the uncertainly of human life, do
make this my last will and testament, revoking and making null and void all former
wills.
1st ¨C My wish and desire is that all my just debts be paid by my executor. Also, my
funeral expenses, and I also desire that a decent burial be given my body, and that a
suitable tombstone be erected to my grave, and also so my wife¡¯s grave (now
deceased)
2nd ¨C My will and desire is that all my personal property shall be sold by my
executors and the debts owing to me collected; and if there shall be any surplus over
and above the payment of my debts and expenses that such surplus be divided
among my children hereafter specified.
3rd ¨C I will and bequeath to my daughter Camillia wife of Daniel C. Basinger ten
dollars.
4th ¨C I will and bequeath all the balance of my personal estate of whatsoever nature or
kind shall be divided equally between my son William Stoner, John M. Stoner, Julia
Ann, wife of Levi Frick, Leah, wife of John A. Brady, Eve Ann Lewis (widow) and
Eveline Ludwick (now deceased) her three children her proportionable part of said
estate.
5th ¨C I will and desire that my trusty son William Stoner and Levi Frick to be my
executors of this my last will and testament.
Witness my hand and seal. October the 10th day of 1873.
