"Myers Funeral to Be Held Thursday"
"Funeral rites for Dr. Joseph Myers, one of the two last survivors of McPherson Post, G. A. R., of Albany who died at his home here early Monday, will be held from the First Baptist church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon.&nb sp; Dr. D. H. Leech of Salem, Dr. Thomas D. Yarnes and Rev. W. C. Osgood of Albany are to officiate. The Albany chamber of commerce quartet is to sing. The honorary pallbearers are Mark Weatherford, A. W. Bowersox, W. J. Warner, Oris Bowman, Fred Nutting and C. H. Burggraf. The active pallbearers selected are Lee Hurst, Marion Clinton, Leslie Minton, Andrew M. Butts, Walter Stuart, and Alton B. Coates. Interment will be in the Masonic cemetery. The National Guard will furnish a firing squad at the grave. Those in charge of Floral offerings are Mrs. C. E. McClain, Mrs. Louise Butts, Mrs. A. W. Bowersox, Mrs F. W. Cocturan, Mrs. Elmer Ellsworth and Mrs. Harmon."
Dr. Joseph Myers' service to his adopted country during the Civil War was an important contribution to the country. His house has been declared an historic home.

Germany. Enlisted Feb 19, 1864. Mustered in March 16, 1864. Military Report-listing of Battles- 1 Casuality Company H - Joseph Myers was wounded severely near Guntown, Mississippi. Only person wounded at this battle, on 14 Jun 1864. The injury was to the left side of his face, and he suffered from this injury the rest of his life.

He was mustered out Aug 9, 1865, Atlanta, Georga.
Joseph enlisted in the 3 Calvary Company H. 19 Feb 1864.

married Sarah Cline on Christmas Day, 25 Dec 1862 in Adair Co., Missouri. They were the parents of ten children: Ida Jane, Minnie, Sina May, Nancy "Nannie", John, Joseph O., E. Gracie, Lulu R., E. Leon, and Tina F. Myers.
