Abraham Deel was the son of Isaac and Elizabeth Deel.
He and his brother Isaiah Deel were veterans of the Civil War. Abraham was with the 7th Ilinois cavalry. Isaiah was with the 14th Ilinois Cavalry. Isaiah Deel died in 1903 and is buried in the Wonsevere Cemetery near Burns, Kansas.

Per Fayette County marriage records, Abram married Lovina Kelley on 9 May 1866 in Fayette County, Illinois. According to Lovina’s obituary, they had four children, three of whom were Lucy Ellen, Asa Elmer and Maude Mary. Lovina died in 1912 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery at Decatur, Macon County, Illinois.
