Charles is the son of Arthur Ward & Margaret (Marjorie) Irene (Halliday) Vincent. He was born in New York state and was married there to Elizabeth Gordinier. They had the two oldest sons while in New York. Charles & his brother Ross worked on building the Alcan Highway and Charles liked Alaska so well he moved his family there to live. They spent the winter of 1944 in Portland, Oregon where their only daughter Risa was born. In the spring of 1945 they settled in Anchorage,Alaska. The last two sons were born there. They had 5 children. David Lansing; Peter Charles; O'Risa Lou; Lynn Allen; & Steven Michael Vincent. Steven only lived a few weeks and is buried in Anchorage. Charles loved to hunt and fish which he enjoyed often. Alaska was a wild country when he first went there but he was very well suited for it. Charles also worked on the pipe lines in Alaska. After he retired Betty & him spent some years in Tucson, Arizona where he died of Lou Gehrig's Disease. His son Peter wrote in one of his portry books a poem about his dad that I will add later.
