"Alexander W Bennett of Sparta - Spartansburg, Jan 16 - Alexander W Bennett, youngest son of N D and Polly Bennett, died on January 11, being 43 years, 8 months and five days old. He was united in marriage to Miss Eva J Blakeslee, July 5, 1886, and to them were born three children - Ralph W, Ethel A, and William N. This place was Mr Bennett's birthplace on May 6, 1863, and his entire life was spent in Sparta township, his home having been near Hatchtown since his marriage. Deceased leaves to mourn his loss a father, mother and loving wife, three children and two sisters, Mrs Ellen Wetherbee of Britton Run, and Mrs Sarah M Jackson of Spartansburg. One brother, Willard J Bennett of Nebraska, also survives him, together with a host of relatives and friends who will miss his kindly greetings. Deceased placed his faith in the Saviour of the world, and though his last days were full of suffering, yet he bore it all with scarcely a murmur. The funeral services were held at the M E church here by Rev E H Wilcox of Corry, and a large concourse of friends gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to one who was loved by all who knew him. Interment in the Rose Hill cemetery."
