Dolphie was a registered American Kennel Club King Doberman Pinscher. He was bought by my son, who couldn't believe people would keep puppies in such a filty, basement. He wanted to rescue at least one of the puppies.

After a few months, my son realized Adolph had problems. Probably from the incense smoked filled area he was kept in.
We took him in and gave him the best life we could with all the health problems he had.

He was so loyal and protective, to the point where people wouldn't come visit. You could not hug me or even sit by me...and that included my husband. He would chase the kittens away if they even tried to sit on my lap.
He was between me and any door and he would lay outside the bathroom door if I was taking a shower. Never more than 2 foot away.

He scared everyone who didn't know him, with his large teeth and deep deep growl...with the exception of my dearest friend Coertje. She befriended him, and found that he was as gentle as a lamb to me....and he loved her near as much. He would get his toy... MY pillow or "blanky" and back up to you, so you could scrunch his ears. If he did that...you knew you were in! (See top picture...he got my pillow when Coertje came to visit him)

He also loved his "Aunt Jen D", who helped us train him to walk with a leash. She always cared about him and his health issues, and would often give us solutions on how to help him.

We rescued a little kitty who we named Miss Lippy and she wasn't one bit afraid of this big, bad dog! She was the only one who would go near him.
He became sicker and sicker and today Aug 20, 2008 I made the hardest decision ever....to let him go....to give him peace. I held him in my arms and was telling him I love you so much...this is why I am letting you go...but he took my heart with him....even tho it was broken. I came home and wrote the poem under this bio. I know God doesn't give you more than you can handle...I am also saying goodbye to my friend/sister-in-law who only has hours to live. Maybe Dolphie will take her over the bridge with him.
NOTE**** Cindy passed away the next day.

He was preceeded in death by his friends Pita and Piggy

HE WASN'T JUST A DOG TO ME.
Written by Beverly Teibel

He wasn't just a dog to me
He Really was a friend
And he was always by my side
Right up until the end.

I got him unexpectedly
I took him from my son
I never really liked dogs much
I never wanted one.

But Dolphie he was not the norm
He didn't act the way
That other doggies seemed to be
He just would not obey.

I took him home and my life changed
Where I went and what I did
Having Dolphie living here
Was like a spoiled kid.

He'd get a sock, a shoe, a shirt
No matter what I'd say
If he wanted me to stay
I couldn't get away.

But finally he realized
That I would come back home
He got lots better by himself
When he was left alone.

My family was afraid of him
And they would stay away
So it became Dolphie and me
More and More each day.

There was a friend who was not afraid
Coertje, befriended him with ease
And Dolphie loved her very much
She fed him lots of cheese.

The hours I worked would often change
Sometimes less, sometimes more
It didn't matter night or day
He'd meet me at the door.

But in July, started to fail
And Dolphie got so weak
I didn't know how bad he felt
I wish that he could speak.

I wondered if he tired of life
And as his life clock ticked
It hurt me so much every day
My Dolphie was so sick.

He looked at me like he was bad
I didn't want to know
But I could see it in his eyes
It was his time to go.

I took him in and held him close
There's nothing they could do
"I can put him fast a-sleep
Bev….it is up to you."

I held my Dolphie in my arms
"I love you my best friend"
And Dolphie slowly closed his eyes
And there his life did end.

But he will never leave my side
Always be in my heart
Love like ours, as you well know
Best Friends can never part.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
