Funeral: Friends and family will celebrate her going home to meet her savior at 10 a.m. Friday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Her grandsons, Joe L. Howington, Robert E. Howington, Darrell Adams, John Howington, Joe D. Howington, Shane McFather, Dan Howington, Jay George, Paul Denosowicz and Mike Risinger.
Memorials: Her memory may be honored with a gift to Helping Hands Ministry, Birchman Baptist Church, 9100 N. Normandale, Fort Worth, Texas 76116.
Arlene was born Nov. 20, 1911, in Alexander to the late John William and Clara Dorcas Langston Ethetton. When she was less than 1 year old, Arlene moved to Fort Worth with her family and had lived here since that time.
In 1928, Arlene married Robert "Bob" Lee Howington of Fort Worth. After her marriage, she devoted herself to her family and serving the Lord through the Body of Christ at Birchman Baptist Church. She joined Birchman in 1934 and had been a member since that time. She faithfully ministered to others by serving as an intermediate teacher, vacation Bible school director and being engaged in Baptist missions and mission study. Arlene diligently maintained church records and was church clerk for more than 25 years. Her delight was providing for her husband and her children. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 118:25: "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it."
In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors: Her children, Jerry Howington and his wife, Marietta, of Orange, Joe Howington and his wife, Joy, of Fort Worth, Irma Adams and her husband, Gene, of Seymour and Robert Howington and his wife, Gayle, of Arlington; sister-in-law, Ruth Counts; two nephews; two nieces; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
