Henry Abercrombie, Jr., 89, of Apalachicola passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2005. He grew up in Petrey, AL, and served in the United States Army during WWII. Mr. Abercrombie came to Apalachicola in the early 1940s. He ran Abercrombie Fishing Lodge and later Abercrombie Service Station. He also worked for Franklin County and later retired as an outboard motor mechanic.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie Hayes and husband Leon of Highland View, Ricky Abercrombie and wife Debbie, Betsy Lashley and husband Jimmy Wayne of Apalachicola; eight grandchildren, Chris Williamson and wife Stacey, Donna Odom, Jennifer Hayes, Ricky Henry Abercrombie, Jr. and wife Melissa, Toni Lashley, Jimmy Lashley and wife, Crystal, Corey Lashley and Cameron Lashley; his great-grandchildren, Amanda, Josh, Ashley, Alishia, William, Katie, Dalton, Jasmine, Jaden, Alyssia; Henry Wyatt, Landon, Chandler, and Tristan.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 18, 2005 at 2 p.m. ET at Highland Park Church in Apalachicola with the Rev. Ray Creamer and the Rev. Authur Coulter officiating. Interment followed in the family plot in Magnolia Cemetery. A viewing was held at the Highland Park Church on Saturday, December 17, from 4:00 p.m. until 6 p.m.
All services were under the direction of the Comforter Funeral Home.
