Age 90, died on Friday, April 30, 1999, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.

She was born September 1, 1908, in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Julius and Theodora (Lohmann) Vogt. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School, High School, and Outagamie Rural Normal School, all of Kaukauna. She taught at Cedar Grove School near Medina before her marriage to Walter Vollmer on June 22, 1929, at St. Mary's Church in Kaukauna. She returned to teaching from 1960 to 1970 at St. Mary Catholic School in Hilbert and also did substitute teaching at Hilbert Elementary School from 1931 until 1963. Florence and Wally also farmed in the Hilbert area. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert, St. Mary Christian Mothers and a 50-year member of the Catholic Knights.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and playing sheepshead. Another enjoyment was playing organ and she was the organist for St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert for several years.

She is survived by three children, Daniel (Barbara) Vollmer, Hilbert; Jean (Donald) Holzer, Stockbridge; and Carol (Paul) Gehl, Hilbert; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Nell Schaefer, Kaukauna.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in December of 1983, also by five sisters and a brother.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 1999, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert with the Rev. Rallen Stencil officiating.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Wieting Funeral Home of Chilton is assisting the family with arrangements.
