Lorene Carlin Glover, 100 of Springfield, Missouri, died at St. John's Hospital, Springfield. She was born to Brit and Fannie Williams Carlin.

She earned degrees from Monett High School, Southwest Baptist College, Pittsburg Teacher's College and Southwest Missouri State University.

She married Kenneth Glover, M.D. in 1929. They made their home in Mount Vernon where Lorene was an excellent housewife and dedicated member of First Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School for 57 years.

She served on the State Missionary Board, State Baptist Convention Board, Children's Home Board and Baptist Hospital Board. She was honored by Business and Professional Women's Club as a woman of achievement and by Beta Sigma Phi for her service to the Mount Vernon community.

For 60 years she was a member of P.E.O., Chapter C.U. Known affectionately as "Nanna" to her family, Lorene loved gardening, playing bridge, and cooking, often sharing her homemade bread and flowers from her garden with others.

She loved people, never seeking limelight but going about serving others with no expectation of reward or recognition. During the last thirteen years of her life, Nanna was surrounded by friends in the Naomi Sunday School class at First Baptist Church and at The Cambridge.

She is survived by two daughters, Louise and husband, Joe, of Ponca City, Okla. and Jean Matthews of Springfield. Lorene's grandchildren are Christie Skinner and husband Tom Gilligan of LaCanada, Calif., Carey and Debbie Skinner of Amarillo, Texas and Gary Matthews of Springfield, Mo. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Harold Haggard of Springfield, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The memorial service for Mrs. Glover was held on Saturday, August 23, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at First Baptist Church of Springfield, 525 South Avenue.
