Truman Kathan, a well known and respected resident of the town of Ballston, died at his home at the V corners on Saturday afternoon, after only a few days illness of pneumonia. He was taken ill last Sunday and from the beginning of his illness, his condition has been critical.

Mr. Kathan was born in the town of Day, September 28, 1828, the son of Luke and Freelove Kathan and was in his seventy-ninth years. Most of his life was spent in his native town, where he tilled the soil and raised cattle. Twenty-eight years ago he moved to Ballston and has since lived there.

He is survived by two daughters and six sons, Mrs. C. H. Gross and Luke Kathan, of Ballston Spa, Mrs. B. S. Jenkins and Dr. Dayton L. Kathan, of Schenectady; the Rev. C. S. Kathan, of Aitkin, Minn.; Dr. S. S., Frank E., and Wallace Kathan of Conklingville.
