On Friday, March 22, 1895, having made out his last will and testament, Frederick Adams set sail on “The Velos,” bound for Haddington Island. That evening, the ship went down in a storm off Trial Island with the loss of five lives, including Adams. Adams body was never found. His will left everything to his wife, Sarah. Sadly the following year, Sarah, and their son Frederick Jr. drowned in the Point Alice bridge disaster. Their funeral was held from their home along with that of Annie Heatherbell who lived at 1417 Pembroke St. The Adams and Miss Heatherbell are buried together in Ross Bay cemetery and the memorial includes Frederick Sr, even though his body was never found.
