DEATH OF MRS. T. F. YATES
A blanket of sadness was thrown over the city Saturday when news of the passing of another fine Christian woman was heralded over the wires.
Mrs. T. F. Yates, age 87, died in a sanitarium in Wichita Falls where she has been the past year for treatment. She has been in ill health for the past twelve years but the last year of her life was spent in bed. Only Friday before death closed in she asked that she might sit up in a chair. The request was granted and as she sat meditating and knowing that Christmas time was drawing near, talked to the nurse telling her of the hope to be able to spend Christmas at home with her husband and children. She seemingly was making plans to surprise the family, but the same evening took suddenly ill and passed on to her heavenly home Saturday afternoon, December 12, at 6 o'clock. The body was brought home from Wichita Falls where it lay in state at her home 118 S. Oak until Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held at the Arlington Baptist church where she has been a member for many years. In fact Mrs. Yates was active in social activities of the city as well as being one of the outstanding members of that church until her health gave way. She was always doing things for others and never tired of trying to fulfill duties to her church and family. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Collins, deceased, who were among the pioneers of Tarrant county. She was married to T. F. Yates in 1896. Rev. W. T. Rouse officiated at the funeral, being assisted by Rev. S. M. Bennett. Interment at Arlington cemetery.
Survivors are her husband, and three children, Mrs. Max O. Brock of Lawton, Oklahoma, Miss Dixie Yates and Dick Yates of this city, sisters Mrs. George Luttrell, Mrs. Joe Elliott, and Miss Fannie Collins of this city, and Mrs. Will Moore of Ft. Worth.
Pallbearers were: Chester Farris, G. C. Thompson and Howard Slaughter of this city, A. P. Yates of Dallas, Melvin Moore of Ft. Worth, Ben O.Collins of Alvord.
