Charlotte C. Locke, 76, of 353 E. McKinley St., and formerly of Horse Valley, died at 5 a.m. Thursday, Dec. , 2001, in The Shook Home, Chambersburg, where she had resided less than 24 hours. Born Nov. 12, 1925, in Doylesburg, she was a daughter of the late Wayne O. and Blanche Ryder Piper. Her husband, Edgar R. Locke, died Sept. 12, 1999. Mrs. Locke was a graduate of the former Dry Run High School in Dry Run. Retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, where she had been employed for more than 30 years, she had owned and operated Charlotte's Beauty Shop out of her home in Chambersburg for more than 50 years. A life member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Mrs. Locke was a member of Women of the Moose 1128, Falling Spring Chapter 2840 AARP and Burt J. Asper Post 47 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, all of Chambersburg.

She is survived by two sons, Richard W. (husband of Ellene) Piper of East Waterford and Thomas E. (husband of Vickie D.) of Concord; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine Cranson of Chambersburg and Sarah Burgoyne of Massena, NY; a brother, Daniel Piper of Doylesburg; and six nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Piper.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in John L. Agett Funeral Home, 18875 Main St., Dry Run, with Darwin Goshorn officiating. Burial will be in Concord Union Cemetery, Concord. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: Concord United Methodist Church, c/o Jane Stayer, P.O.
