Daniel H. Piper, age 82 of Doylesburg, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Saturday, April 12, 1930, in Fannett Township, the son of the late Daniel Wayne and Blanche L. (Ryder) Piper. Daniel retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1993. Prior to his employment at Letterkenny Army Depot, Daniel worked construction in the Hershey Area for many years. He was proud to have been a part of building Hershey Park, Hershey Medical Center and the Fannett-Metal High School. Daniel and his wife also raised beef cattle at their farm in Doylesburg.
He was a member of American Legion McCartney Post 232, Dry Run and Marine Corp League ~ Landis McCleaf Detachment. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from January 23, 1952 through January 22, 1954 during the Korean conflict.
Daniel enjoyed NASCAR racing, baseball games and spending time with his great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Barbara A. (Robinson) Piper, celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary on April 20, 2012. He is also survived by a daughter, Kathy Hockenberry (Rodney Wilhelm) of Doylesburg, a granddaughter, Angela Hockenberry Brady (Randy Steel) of Doylesburg, his mother-in-law, Kathryn J. Robinson of Orbisonia, a brother-in-law, Glenn Stewart of Shippensburg, four great grandchildren: Marshall Goshorn, Levi Brady, Logan Brady and Laken Steel, all of Doylesburg as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Piper, Geraldine Cranson, Charlotte Locke and Sara Stewart and his beloved grandson, Adam Daniel Hockenberry.

Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Doylesburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Stewart and Rev. Tim Vaughn officiating. Interment will be in Doylesburg Union Cemetery.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing at the church on Monday, April 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday at 10 a.m. until time of services.
