John was the youngest of three children born to John Taylor and Laura R. (Combs) Dishman. He married Addie Belle Hammer and they had one daughter: Edna Belle.

Rites Set

STONY POINT - John Newton Dishman, Jr., 65, of Stony Point, died at 10:05 a.m. Sunday in Alexander County Hospital.
Mr. Dishman was born Oct. 23, 1909, in Iredell County to the late John Dishman, Sr., and Laura Combs Dishman.
Survivors include his wife, Addie Belle Hammer Dishman; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Gregory; a sister, Mrs. Emma Rufty of Stony Point; a half-sister, Mrs. Vivian Alexander and one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Adams Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Henkle Little and Rev. Marshall Sargeant. Burial will be in the Stony Point Cemetery.
The body will remain at Adams Funeral Home whee the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 today. The family will assemble at the home of a brother-in-law, Dan Hammer of Stony Point.
