A great deal of fascinating information has been written about this James Deyoe and his family, that could be added, though I find that it is difficult to know where to begin!... ....
---Note- his grandfather mentioned James in his Will, as he was born before his death, as this James(born in 1803) and mentioning him in it, by James Jacobus Deyo(1754-1822about-with spouse Margaret) *
Source *The Beekman Files & Patent at Beekman.
The Beekman files document this line of Deyo/Deyoes, that assist in dating the Deyoes back to the Deyo family of the Hugenots and the early settlers of New Paltz, New York, along with building on the most Historic streets and oldest streets in the US. The Deyos built one of about 10-12 of the Famous homes in New York.....

--James Jacobus Deyo. (Abt.1754-1822)
--Peter Deyoe- "grandfather 96 years" of this cemetery, or "OLD Peter," as commonly and fondly referred too! (Abt.1780-1876)
--James Deyoe 1803-1878--This James.
.....and more...
Property in Winnebago County, Wisconsin....
...

"In the year of 1846 Joseph Utter Mallory and his family moved to Wisconsin. There are several writings about Joseph moving here, with James Deyoe who is his brother in law. (married his sister Esther Ann Mallory)... ..and Mr. James Deyoe and family, with Mr. Joseph Mallory, arrived in October. They lived in a shanty for a few days while erecting a log house roofed with shakes. There was no floor during the winter, as lumber could not be had...." ..." as this was what is called an opening. The land was more easily broken up and made ready for their crops than dense forest would have been. In order to have fruit each brought with them apple seeds to start an orchard. Mr. Mallery was a consistent member of the Methodist Church and was respected by all who knew him – was justice of the peace for many years."-.....
