The names of JOHN & PHILLIPA SMITH BIRDSEYE, are on a plaque on the Memorial Bridge over the Wepawaug River in Milford placed by the Milford 350th Celebration Committee, July 8, 1989. It says: "IN MEMORY OF THE 18 ORIGINAL SETTLERS OF MILFORD WHOSE NAMES WERE NOT PLACED ON THE MEMORIAL BRIDGE WHEN IT WAS BUILT IN 1889: JOHN BIRDSEYE OBIT 1690 PHILLIPA SMITH HIS WIFE"
