SALT LAKE CITY, June 20—(AP)—Leonard Goodridge Hardy, 85, Salt Lake City pioneer and Latter-day Saints church leader, died Sunday following an operation for appendicitis.
Funeral rites will be held Thursday. A son-in-law of Brigham Young, Hardy for six years was a Salt Lake County recorder and later served as a member of the Salt Lake City council. He was one of the founders of the first
Utah Sugar Co., the L.D.S. business college and the Deseret
Agricultural and Manufacturing Society.

SALT LAKE CITY, June 20 — (A.P)—Funeral services will be held Thursday for Leonard Goodridge Hardy, 85, son-in-law of Brigham Young and for six years Salt Lake County recorder.
Hardy died yesterday of complications that followed an appendectomy. A native of Salt Lake City, he married Miss Miriam Young, a daughter of the L. D. S. church founder, in 1878. She died in 1919.

Leonard Goodridge Hardy, 85, died in the LDS Hospital from complications of appendicitis and terminal bronchial pneumonia. He had an appendectomy on June 14, 1938, but regardless of all the care that he received, died on June 19th 1938.
He was the son of Sophia Goodridge Hardy and Leonard W. Hardy. He had worked 60 years as a mining engineer and general contractor until May of 1958. He was predeceased by his wife, Mirian Young Hardy.
Interment was made in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. He was a native of Salt Lake and spent his entire 85 years in Salt Lake City. Deseret Mortuary Company handled the funeral arrangements.
