The Star-Mirror, Moscow, Idaho, November 30, 1911: "After a long illness, Mrs. Gertrude Hoidal, wife of Peter Hoidal, who lives about 4 miles northeast of town, has passed away. Her health has been very poorly for the past few years and while all was done to restore her to her usual health it proved of no avail and she grew worse from day to day until the end came. Mrs. Hoidal went to California but the change of climate did not have any effect on her failing health. She returned home about six weeks ago and the trip home was so severe on her that her death was looked for at any minute. Mrs. Hoidal was a very highly respected citizen of the community and the sad shock was greatly felt by her many friends.

"Mrs. Gertrude Hoidal was born in Trondhjem, Norway, Jan. 24, 1844, and died Nov 24, 1911, being at the time of death 67 years and 10 months old. She came to America in 1871. She was united in marriage to Peter Hoidal at Rich Landing, Minn., April 13, 1875. She settled in Idaho in 1888 where she made her home since. Five children survive her, Mrs. J.A. Pearson of Troy, Mrs. C.N. Jaquette of Kalispell, Anders Hoidal of Troy, Milton Hoidal of Kalispell, G.C. Hoidal of Troy.

"The funeral was held in the Zion cemetery at Deary and the services were conducted by Rev. Swenson of Deary."
