Methodist Minister and circuit rider throughout Ohio from the 1830s till the 1870s, and also spent time preaching in Indiana and Michigan, before retiring to Lima Ohio, where he lived over 40 years. Six months before his death, he went to stay with his daughter in Flora Illinois, where he passed away, and at his request, was buried in Flora.

Rev. Caddy's tombstone has a middle initial of "B", but no middle name for him was ever found, except for the obituary of his daughter, who referred to him as Chester Caddy.
