Jack was born on April 6, 1929, at Lakin, KS. to William and Elizabeth Roach McVey. He graduated from Lakin High School in 1949. He was a veteran and served in the United States Army. On May 6, 1951, Jack was united in marriage to Freda Waechter at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deerfield, KS. Jack passed away on September 5, 2008, in Seward, Nebraska, at the age of 79 years, 4 months, and 30 days. Jack was a manager and sales person at Wheeler's and then retired from Beckler's Implement, for seven years Jack worked for Labors for Christ and Habitat for Humanity. Jack is survived by his wife, Freda, two daughters and their husbands, Jaci and Douglas Thorburn of Seward, Ne. and Karen and Dan Hemsath of Lincoln, Ne., two sisters, Louvena Bickford and Lucille Worley, sister-in-law, Buela McVey, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, son Roger McVey, five brothers, and their wives, Bill and Donna McVey, Doyle and Marie McVey, Donald McVey, Elmer McVey, Russell and Lottie McVey, four sisters, and their husbands, Pearl and Charlie Hill, Dorothy and Earl Herron, Ruth and Lloyd Newport and Esther and Ralphn Elliot, brothers-in-law, Art Bickford and Lester Worley.
Burial in the Seward Cemetery.
