In 1919, Louis came home to Boston, met a pretty Irish girl in a bar, and they were married. Ella Moore Davidson would remain married to my cousin Louis for the remainder of his life, and give him three children, two of whom predeceased both of them.
Louis and his wife Ella suffered a grievous loss when their son Sgt. Clifton Louis Davidson, serving as the side machine gunner on the B-24 Liberator named "Maiden USA," was shot down with the rest of his crew and killed when the plane crashed near Cesena, Italy, on 25 April 1944. Louis' health declined, and he died of a broken heart, almost two years later to the day, on 23 April 1946. He is buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Boston, Massachusetts, along with his wife, Ella, and their daughter, Rita, who died of leukemia in 1929 when she was about 8 years old. Their other son, Irving Earl Davidson, known as "Dave," served in the CIA during the 1940s and 1950s.
Louis and Ella were the parents of:
Rita Davidson (1919-1929)
Irving Earl "Dave" Davidson (1920-1989)
Lt. Clifton Louis Davidson (1923-1944)
