When Aldean Margaret Falls was born on June 5, 1917, in Montague, Montana, her father, Charles, was 25, and her mother, Inez, was 23. She married Thomas Wilfred Hardy on August 4, 1939, in Montana. They had four children during their marriage. Aldean graduated from Moore (Montana) High School in 1935 and from Western Montana Normal College, Dillon, in 1937, and from the College of Great Falls in 1963. Tom and Aldean farmed in the Eagle Butte area of Chouteau County and Aldean taught rural schools in Chouteau County until they moved to Denton and then Butte. Aldean taught in Denton from 1961 to 1969 and in Butte from 1969 to 1979, when they retired to Fort Benton in 1980. She died on July 24, 1981, in Great Falls, Montana, at the age of 64. Funeral services were held in the First Episcopal Church, Fort Benton and burial was at Riverside Cemetery on a bluff overlooking Fort Benton.
