ADA — Graveside services for Alva Gurley, 87, Ada, are 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnie Fredman officiating. He died Dec. 22, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born Dec. 20, 1916, at Lightning Ridge to Benjamin Franklin and Lillie Mae Schofield Gurley. He attended grade school at Lightning Ridge and attended high school at Latta. He was employed with the F.E. Warren Strategic Air Command, at a Cheyenne, Wyo. air force base until his retirement. He was affiliated with Ada First Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the U.S. Army Artillery during World War II in the European Theater. He and Zella Mae Aday were married Sept. 26, 1946, at Ada. She died Sept. 20, 2003, at Ada. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Gurley and wife Susan, and Gene Gurley and wife Debbie, all of Ada; three brothers, B.F. Gurley, Ada, Matthew Gurley, Texas, and Jess Gurley, Pennsylvania; and seven grandchildren. Criswell Funeral Home
