Services for Benjamin Franklin "B.F." Gurley Jr., 81, Ada, are 2 p.m. Monday at First Free Will Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Delbert Akin, assisted by Larry Montgomery. Burial follows at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Gurley died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at a local hospital. He was born July 23, 1925, at Vanoss to Benjamin Franklin Gurley Sr. and Lillie Susan Schofield Gurley. He was the ninth of 13 children. Mr. Gurley grew up in Vanoss where he attended Vanoss School. He was a lifelong resident of the Ada area and self-employed as a television repairman. He and Barbara Ellen Kimmel were married July 23, 1948. She died March 19, 2006. Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Judy and Ken Short and Lani and Art Vasconcellos, all of Ada, Kathy and Ed Harmon, Tyler, Texas, Robin and Tifford McConnell, Holdenville; a brother, Jess Gurley, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, DeeAnn Blevins, Chad Short, Adam Huckeby, Andy McConnell, Drew Short, Josh Huckeby and Barbara R. McConnell; four great-grandchildren, Steven Vekony, Reagan Blevins, Grace Huckeby and Glory Huckeby. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin franklin Gurley Sr. and Lillie Susan Schofield; his wife, Barbara Kimmel Gurley; five brothers, Cecil, Euel, Alva, Wesley and Matthew Gurley; and two sisters, Clara Mae Turner and Lillie Marie Gurley. Bearers are grandsons Chad Short, Drew Short, Adam Huckeby, Andy McConnell, Josh Huckeby and Kent Blevins. Honorary bearers are Art Vasconcellos, Tim McConnell, Ed Harmon and Ken Short. Smith-Phillips Funeral Home, Ada.
