William Lichter passes away--
William Lichter, who had been suffering since last September from stomach trouble, died at his home in this city yesterday morning at 11 o'clock.
William Lichter was born at Holy Cross, Iowa September 19, 1861 and came to this county with his parents when he was a young boy. He was married February 16, 1887 to Mrs. Josephine Bouquet. His wife preceded him in death four years ago.
He is survived by the following children, viz:
1. Mrs. A. D. Bletcher, Jamestown, ND
2. Frank, Toledo, Ohio
3. Mrs. Wm. Lovett, Caledonia
4. Emil, Caledonia
5. Kate, Caledonia
He is survived by the following brothers and sisters:
1. Nick, Pocahantas, Iowa
2. Peter, Parkston, SD
3. Philip, Trip, SD
4. Mrs. E. Kriese, Trip, SD
5. Mike, Denver, Colorado
6. Jake, Graceville, MN
7. Mrs. P. Molitor, Slayton, MN
8. Mrs. Matt Kaiser, Sioux City, IA
9. Mrs. George Stohbin, Remsen, IA
10. Mrs. Fred Tietz, Remsen, IA
After retiring from business in Caledonia, Mr. Lichter, occupied his farm north of town which he conducted successfully until about a year ago, when he removed to Caledonia. All his life he was an advocate of good roads and many of the splendid roads in the county were put in shape by him. He was sought after by the county officials whenever they desired to have a piece of road put in shape as he was considered an expert in this line of work.
Funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 from St. Peter's Catholic Church and interment will be made in Calvary cemetery.
In the county death records it shows that he died from carcinoma of the stomach. He was 61 yrs, 4 months and 28 days old. He was born in Iowa, his parents were born in Germany (Luxembourg) and their names were John Lichter and Anna Schlich. John and Anna were farmers. The attending physician was G. B. Belote for William.
