Death removed one of the old and respected residents of Montague in the person of Mr. John Code, in his 81st year. Although, not in the best of health for some time, the late Mr. Code was up and around until last Thursday when he suffered a stroke, which caused his death of Tuesday last. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Code of Montague, and lived all his life in that vicinity where he made many friends by his kind and jovial disposition. He was married to Ann Lucas, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lucas, who predeased him by three years. He is survived by one daughter and three sons namely Mrs. Herbert Lewis, Montague, Messrs. Ben Code of town, and Albert and Abraham Code of Montague, also three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. John Warren and Mrs. John Douglas of town, Mrs. Ed. Keyes of North Gower, Mr. James Coad in the West and Mr. Geo. Code of Montague, who on account of sickness was unable to attend the funeral.
The late Mr. Code was an Anglican in religion and the funeral which was held yesterday afternoon, to St. Bede's Church, Montague, was conducted by the rector, Rev. Mr. Tabb, assisted by Rev. Geo. Code of town, interment taking place in the church cemetery, and the many friends which attended, showed the esteem in which he was held. The pallbearers, Messrs. Harvey, John and William Code, Robert Eamer, O. Hogan and Howard Lucas.
