He was born July 7, 1935, in Manchester, N.H., the son of Sinai Proulx and Cecile (DesLauriers) Proulx. He graduated from St. Marie High School, after which he entered Oblates of Mary Immaculate Missionaries, Colebrook, in August 1957. He made his first vows on Aug. 2, 1958, and was ordained on Jan. 19, 1964, in Lowell, Mass.
He celebrated his first Mass at St. Marie Church, Manchester.
He was assigned to the Labrador Missions, serving for more than 42 years. His founding missions include Black Tickle, West St. Modeste, Blanc Sablon, Lourdes du Blanc Sablon, and St. Paul, all in northern Quebec.
He dedicated his life to the beliefs of the Virgin Mary.
He vacationed every summer in Manchester with family and friends.
He retired at Cap-de-la-Madeleine, where he enjoyed the last few years of his life, peaceful in God's presence.
The family includes three sisters, Rachel Laplante of Connecticut, and Jeannette Lamy and Doris Chalifour, both of Manchester; 16 nieces and nephews; and several grand- and great-nieces and nephews.
