She was born Sept. 15, 1913, in Vithos, Kozani, Greece, to Paul and Despina (Marandos) Mitrakis. She was a Manchester resident for many years.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. Bantis was employed with Pandora Industries for many years.
She was a long-time member of Pan-Macedonian Association and Anagennesis Ladies Society. She was recognized as a true Greek gourmet cook within the Greek community.
Family includes a son, Alex Bantis of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a daughter, Katherine E. Bantis of Manchester; four brothers, Theodore Metrakas, Steve Lester, Gregory Mitrakis and Peter Mitrakis; a sister, Daphne Tsanotelis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, George N. Bantis, and a son, Aristides "Ted" Bantis.
IN HER LIFE: Special to Mrs. Bantis were her grandchildren, Perry Bantis of Amsterdam, N.Y., Melanie Bantis of Arlington, Va., and Pamela Sapienza of Manchester, as well as her great-grandchildren, Alex Bantis and Angelina Sapienza.
