FORT WAYNE GAZETTE, Thursday, April 27, 1899, Page 5: Hiram Coleman Dies at His Home on the Huntington Road - Funeral Announcements
Hiram Coleman died at his home on the Huntington road, four miles west of the city, yesterday morning. Death was due to the infirmities of old age. He was 77 years old.
Mr. Coleman was born in Sidney, Ohio, and came to this county when only 5 years of age, and has lived here until the time of his death, with the exception of a three years' residence in Wisconsin. His time has been devoted to his farm, and he was without doubt one of the most substantial citizens of this county.
His wife, who was a daughter of Col. J. W. Whittaker, of this city, died three years ago. Five children survive him, Mrs. L. C. Schlaudroff, of this city; Mrs. W. M. Scott of Aboite township; Sylvanus Coleman, of Wayne township; Mrs. A. Redpath, of Baldwin, Ill., and Miss Addie B. Coleman. The funeral services will take place from the family residence on Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Henson, of the First Baptist church, will officiate
