OGDEN - On June 13, 2008, at the age of 88, our Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend Carma Egbert Mansfield Dinwiddie was called home to her Heavenly Father and reunited with her "Sweetheart". She was born the 9th of 12 children on December 28, 1919, in a 2-room log cabin on a farm in Turner, Idaho. The daughter of Robert Calvert and Sarah Jane Perry Egbert.

Because of her Father's illness and early death, she had many chores working in the hay fields, driving hay slips, thinning and hoeing beets, chopping wood and milking cows.
She was educated in Turner in a 2 room school house and also Grace, Idaho for her high school years. She left school and married Gerald Lorenzo Mansfield June 24, 1938. They were later sealed in the LDS Temple on June 13, 1947. Together they had one son Robert Lorenzo Mansfield to which they devoted all their time and love.

While Gerald was serving in WWII, Carma worked in several packing and canning plants. In 1951 she went to work Civil Service at Hill Air Force Base, she was laid off in 1954. She then went to work in the cafeteria until she had one of many back injuries and was laid off again. She worked at Marquardt Cafeteria and Sierra Laundry until her last back injury forced her to retire in 1963. After Gerald retired they started spending their winters in Quartzsite, AZ. where they enjoyed scouting the desert for rocks and other treasures. They also enjoyed music on the desert where Gerald played the guitar and sang with their closest friend Ed Moore. Gerald passed away on Dec. 11, 1984 in Quartzsite.

In the winter of 1986, Carma returned to Quartzsite and met Gene Dinwiddie at a Q.I.A. dance. She and Gene were married on Feb. 17, 1987, in Las Vegas, NV., and spent the next 16 years traveling the country. They also enjoyed their winters in Quartzsite. Gene passed away on Jan. 2, 2003, in Parker AZ. Carma continued to go to Quartzsite with her son listening to him play in the band his father started "The Desert Varnish Band". She had many friends there and was a member of the Q.I.A. club and the rock club.

Carma was a lover of the outdoors. She was an avid fisherman, often taking the family to Blackfoot Reservoir, Flaming Gorge and Lost Creek Reservoir. She loved hunting, camping, dog racing, horse racing and just spending time in the yard. She also enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables, playing cards, dancing, crocheting, watching sports on TV (her favorite being the Jazz), and especially loved keeping house and spending time with her family. She was a collector of many things such as salt and pepper shakers, die-cast cars, and coffee cups from her many travels.

Carma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald, her 2nd husband Gene, 3 brothers, and 6 sisters. She is survived by her only child Robert (Peggy) Mansfield, Ogden, 3 Grandchildren, Robert Mansfield II, Ogden; Sandra (Clint) Anderson, Pahrump, NV; Cindy (Troy) Todd, Hooper; 8 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren 2 step Great Great Grandchildren, 2 expected Great Great Grandchildren, 2 sisters Ellen Adkin, Clinton; Esther Morrell of WA. And several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 845 Washington Blvd. Interment, Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
