Peter was born in Carrrig, Ireland in 1804 and died in Bordentown, New Jersey on August 19, 1890. Peter married Mary Mc Carthy in Killvulen, Ireland on Jan. 21, 1834. Peter arrived in Philadelphia on July 24, 1837 with two boxes of belongings. By 1840 Peter and Mary had moved to Bordentown on the Delaware River. Peter is listed as a laborer in the Burlington County, New Jersey Directory for the years 1868, 1876 and1889. He was a gang boss on the Camden & Amboy Railroad, one of the first in the country and he was well liked. Peter became a citizen in 1842. Peter could speak and write, and he knew arithmetic. Peter acquired a small fortune by buying and selling real estate. Peter was an election judge from 1869 to 1872. Peter also helped found St. Mary's Church in Bordentown. Before it was built the Irish in town would walk to St. John's in Trenton to attend Sunday mass. Peter died at 87 or 88 years of age.
