U.S. National Homes for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, 1866-1938 records: Service in Union army 9/2/1864-7/7/1865, F Company, 44th Missouri Infantry, rank of Private. At time of discharge [which was completion of service commitment] it indicated he had rheumatism. Born KY, age at admission 69, couldn't read or write, protestant, farmer, nearest relative brother William Artman, Orrick, Ray County, MO. Residence subsequent to discharge looks like Chelrope KS--have no idea what that is supposed to be unless it is Cherokee. He was originally admitted to the Home 12/1/1894, discharged 11/28/1896 at his request, and readmitted 12/21/1898. Date of death 2/1/1901 [another record say 2/10/1901 but 2/1 most common]. Personal effects at time of death $1.80 and sold for $1.50.

U.S. Civil War Draft Registration Records, 1863-1865: Age 37 as of 7/1/1863, born Kentucky, listed at Ray County, Knoxville. Marital status was not shown in this document for any of the indiviuals on the list. I seem to remember that it was usually shown but not on this version of the form. So I don't know if Angelina was still alive or not.

U.S. Civil War Pension Index: General Index to Pension Files, 1861-1934: Adam Artman, F Company, 44th MO Inf., filed as invalid 8/24/1866.
