Matilda is the first born of 9 children to Mary Ann Tyner and William Martin. Matilda married Thomas Jones 17 Nov. 1831 in Fayette Co., Indiana.
Matilada's maternal g-pa Rev. William Dover Tyner is the co founder of Little Cedar Baptist church south of Brookville, Indiana. Her maternal g-ma is Elizabeth Hackleman. Elizabeth's marker is in the church, and is the only marker left from the cemetery at Little Cedar.

Matilda's paternal grandparents are Giles & Lurleen (Moore) Martin.

Matilda was born 10/1/1813, and is buried next to her parents. She has two stones, the newer one probably erected by her children.

FYI- Little Cedar Baptist Church (built 1812) is the oldest church in the State of Indiana in its original location.

Inscription

w/o Thomas Jones aged 35y, 8d
She was a tender Mother here,
and in her life the Lord did serve.
We trust our loss will be her gain,
And that with Christ she's gone to reign.
