Melvin Gerald Cassidy, 62, Lakeview Drive, Somerset, died yesterday at the Lake Cumberland Medical Center after a long illness.

A native of Pulaski County, Cassidy was born Jan. 16, 1920. His parents, Martha Erp and Lewis Cassidy, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Bertie Blankenship Cassidy. They were married Oct. 18, 1946.

He is survived by four children. They are Dan G. Cassidy of Pleasure Ridge, Teresa A. Lynch of Cincinnati, Connie L. Cassidy of Somerset, and Barbara S. Wilson of Burnside.

Luther Cassidy of Sloans Valley, a brother, survives along with two sisters, Stella Hardwick of Marietta, Ga. and Pearl Lewis of Sloans Valley. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Two grandchildren also survive.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pulaski Funeral Home with the Revs. Bill Miller and Noah Broughton officiating.

Burial will be in the Sloans Valley Cemetery.
