A 55 year old Sloans Valley woman died early Friday morning at Somerset City Hospital from injuries received when a tree fell on her.

Pulaski County Coroner Norman Farris said Mrs. Clara Cassidy McKee died of a fractured skull, crushed chest, and broken back.

According to Farris, her husband, George Asher McKee, was cutting a tree for cord wood. McKee said his wife was assisting him and that when the tree started to fall, she apparently was unable to get out of the way. The accident occurred near the McKee home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. She died at 5 a.m. Friday.

The daughter of Lewis and Martha Erp Cassidy, she was born May 5, 1909, in Pulaski County. She was married to George McKee December 20, 1930. She was a member of the Sloans Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, her sons, Boyd Virgil McKee and George G. McKee both of Norwood, Ohio, Robert L. McKee, Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, Milford G. and David A. McKee, both of Sloans Valley; her daughters, Mrs. Shirley Jean Helton, Burnside, Mrs. Judith Ann Jacobs, Lexington, and Brenda Kay McKee, Sloans Valley; and the following brothers and sisters, Carl Cassidy, Miami, Florida, George Cassidy and Stella Hardwick, both of Norwood, Ohio, Luther P. Cassidy, Melvin Cassidy, Pearl Lewis, all of Sloans Valley, and Adams Cassidy and Bonnie Rose, both of Greenwood.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Sloans Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. D. A. Linville and the Rev. G. C. Lewis officiating. Burial was in the Sloans Valley Cemetery.
