ALASKA -- Catherine Capen Will, 66, of Alaska, died Sept. 20, 2008 at the Westley Nursing Home in Alaska, after a battle with illness.

She was born in Springfield, Vt., June 10, 1942, the daughter of Charles and Berniece Willette Capen.

Catherine joined the United States Army where she served as a nurse for three years.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Ralph and Berniece Farnsworth of Springfield; two brothers, Charles Capen of Springfield and Bill Capen of Nashua; and several cousins.

Catherine was predeceased by her father, Charles Capen Sr. in 1978.

Funeral services will be published at a later date.

Catherine spent her years growing up in Springfield and in 1960, graduated from Springfield High School. She attended the University of Vermont for a year.

Catherine lived in Alburque, N.M., for a number of years, and then moved to Alaska, where she worked at the Providence Hospital as a medical secretary for 15 years. When she was 62, she retired after working at several other jobs in Alaska.

Catherine loved to read, sing, and learn as much as she could. She was working on her Master's degree when she became ill.

Other surviving family members include Charles' wife, Holly of Springfield; Bill's wife, Sharon of Nashua; an uncle, Richard Willette; an aunt, Jeanne Sysko and her husband, Steve of Springfield; three nieces, Nicole Dewing, Joanne Bohen, and Renee Capen; and a grand-nephew, Ethan Bohen.
