Jacob Augenstein is the son of Mathew Augenstein (1824-1895) and Katharina Margaretha Neu (1828-1899). He was the eleventh child of thirteen children. Jacob married Ida C. Harmening (1879-1968) on November 27, 1900, Carrick, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Jacob and Ida had these children: Laura Louise (1902-1964) married Rev. David Lau; Emma J. born 1905 (married Domenico Piccinini); Matthew born about 1909; Alma born about 1919 (married Kalpes (sp?)).

Jacob died in Baldwin Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

Death Notice, Pittsburgh Press, Nov 24 1934:
AUGENSTEIN--On Friday, Nov. 23, at 11:50 p.m. Jacob Augenstein in his 67th year, husband of Ida Harmening Augenstein. Funeral services at his late home, Horning Road, Baldwin Township, Broughton, Pa, on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 1934, at 2 p.m. Interment in Zion Cemetery. Friends invited.
