Death at four thirty o'clock Tuesday afternoon, May 21, 1921, claimed William Baumann,Sr., one of Ste. Genevieve's oldest and most highly esteemed citizens, the final summons coming at the home of his son, Henry Baumann, where he had been making his home since the death of his wife, Mrs. Sophia Baumaun, nee Doll, which occurred about twenty-three years ago. His death was caused by intirmities. He was 89 years old last February. The deceased is survived by five sons and one daughter, August, William, Jr., Frank, Henry, Edward and, Mary, Mrs. Joseph Valle. He also leaves two brothers, Anton and John Baumann, and one sister, Mrs. Louise Huck, 30 grand children and 20 great children. A host of friends are also lett to mourn his death, the deceased being a man of winning qualities, which made him a friend of every one with whom he came in contact. The funeral was held from the Catholic Church Friday morning at 9 o'clock and after a Requiem Mass the body was laid to rest in the Valle Spring Cemetery.
