Mrs. Sarah Ella Beard of Duncansville, died unexpectedly at her home at 12:40 p. m. yesterday.

She was born at Duncansville RD 1 on July 6, 1894, a daughter of Dire and Ann (Fornwalt) Steward,and on Feb. 12, 1913, in Cumberland, Md., married Charles Beard,who died in 1936.

Surviving are eight children, William, Mrs. Sally Lear and Sam of Duncansville,Charles and Mrs. Betty Diehl of Duncansville RD 2, Earl of Baltimore, Frank of Altoona and Jack of Silver Creek, N. Y.;31 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Reed of Eldorado and Mrs. Minnie Barnes of Juniata.

A son, Alfred, was killed in World War II.

Mrs. Beard was a member of the Duncansville Lutheran Church, Gold Star Mothers, Golden Age Club, Scotch Valley Grange and the auxiliaries to the Duncansville VFW and fire company.

Friends will be received in the Barefoot Funeral Home East Freedom, from 7 p.m. today until noon Friday and thereafter in the church.
