Longtime Alaska resident HELEN KATHERINE LAMIRAND, 77, died of congestive heart failure June 29, 2000, at the Anchorage Pioneers' Home. Private services were held at a later date.

Mrs. Lamirand was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Niles, Mich. In 1949, she moved to Alaska, where she married Thomas Lamirand in McGrath. They lived in Bethel, Fairbanks and Anchorage until retiring in 1980 to Cottonwood, Ariz. She returned to Anchorage in 1992 and lived here until she died. Mrs. Lamirand was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church. Her family said: ''She had a beautiful smile with bright eyes and a playful sense of humor. She will be forever loved and missed.''

Mrs. Lamirand is survived by her daughters, Charmaine Piotrowski of Las Vegas, Nev., Cheryl Brown, Denise Drake; her son, Erich Lamirand of Anchorage; grandchildren, Brandon, Lindsay, Darren, Nick, Benjamin, Stuart and Lauren; sisters, Rosemary Dunn of California, Barbara Bergin of Indiana, and Marguerite McDole of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary and Crematory.
