Antoinette was a costume designer for the Ziegfeld Follies. In the late 20s, after the death of her husband Andre, she had an eccentric summer house built for herself over in Chesterfield, NH where she summered (and later lived) for 30 years.

Although just a cottage, it became known as a castle.

She would arrive from New York with a group of beautiful young men and women. Prohibition era parties were thrown at her house and the rumor began that it was a brothel.

It is said that she would drive into Brattleboro, in her Packard convertible, wearing nothing but a fur coat
